100×100 Christmas Challenge – A great way to spend Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve morning 2025, saw the pool come alive for the 100×100 Christmas Challenge – a festive endurance swim built around steady pacing, shared effort, and community spirit. Swimmers chose a distance that suited them, jumped in together, and supported each other from start to finish.

This year’s event is set to become an annual tradition and over $1,000 was raised for Cancer Council. We had swimmers join us from right across the Central Coast and even one who travelled up from Melbourne to be part of it.

It was great to welcome Olympian Bradley Woodward poolside, along with Josh Taylor, son of the late Kim Taylor, former Head Coach at Mingara.

Current Head Squad Coach, Paul Dowey was thrilled with how the morning unfolded and said that, “Last year this was pretty informal. This year we added some structure and a real sense of community. We had over 100 swimmers take part, and more than half of them completed the full 10,000 metres.”

Later in the morning, One Swim joined in with their own version of the challenge, rounding out a great event full of inclusive, community-focused swimming.

A big thank you to Paul Lemmon and Mal Allen for helping bring our community together as well as all of our amazing swimmers!
