Spring is known as the season of renewal and growth, a time of the year that comes with longer days and pleasant temperatures, where the trees leaf out and our feathered friends turn their focus to family. It’s the few months where the weather can feel “just right” for many of us, where we can breathe in fresh air and get into the outdoors much more comfortably than during the brisker winter days. With this comes the perfect opportunity to open up our windows and bring the best qualities of the season inside with a bit of spring cleaning to freshen up our lives.

Revamp

Your home is your sanctuary; a common saying and one that rings true when it’s time for a bit of a revamp. To start, we find that one of the most satisfying things you can do at the beginning of spring is declutter. Everyone has their personal preferences as to what makes their ideal environment so there really isn’t one way to go about this one, but the simplicity of freeing up space in those wardrobes, cupboards and cabinets can be a great way to make for a healthier and more hygienic living space. Decluttering and reorganising also has the ability to reduce stress levels and bring with it a positive feeling of productivity, all good vibes to bring in the new season. As well as this, anything of quality that you no longer want may be perfect in the hands of someone else in need. Cass and Dani, two beloved members of our team, are regular donators and shoppers at The Entrance’s Vinnies and Salvos, both appreciating the chance to give back to the community in a meaningful way. On one occasion, their generosity found them setting up a streetside second-hand stand together. Legends!

Retouch

Now it’s time to take advantage of your newly freed up space and do some deep cleaning. Whether you give this a go during a single afternoon or intermittently over a few days is entirely up to you, the key is to focus on one section of your home at a time so you don’t overwhelm yourself! Some of us might start out by scrubbing at residue build-up inside their appliances or choose to get the microfibre towel on the ceiling fan, just remember that any kind of progress is worthwhile. Another thing to consider is safety, making sure that you’re always following directions while using certain cleaning products and chemicals, especially in when in enclosed spaces like the bathroom and laundry. A general retouch can go hand-in-hand with decluttering, in that having everything spick and span can have numerous health benefits, as well as making your home that much more presentable as a space to host springtime visitors.

Refresh

Your home is looking similar to as it did when you first moved in. Everything is in place, sparkling clean and ready for what the new season has to offer. There’s just one more thing to take care of that can really give your space that breath of spring fresh air. While it may go overlooked after a deep clean, a good refresh really makes a noticeable difference to the overall aura of your sanctuary. Doing a full wash of your linen, replacing lightbulbs and smoke alarm batteries, giving those air conditioner filters a wipe down and even setting up a diffuser are all great ways to spruce up your environment. We recommend the use of tea tree oil as an air purifier, as it not only smells great but can combat the growth of mould in the future. Also acting as a natural disinfectant of sorts, it’s a go-to product for keeping your home feeling fresher than ever!
