PAUL – Head Squad Coach

Paul Dowey is a globally experienced swim coach with a career spanning more than 20 years across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK. He has guided swimmers at every stage of the journey, from grassroots programs to high-performance athletes competing at national and international levels. Currently, Paul is the Head Squad Coach at One by Mingara and Mingara Aquatic Club, where he has been instrumental in strategically redeveloping the centre’s swimming pathway. Alongside this, he leads as Head Coach of the Swimming Program at the Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS), helping young athletes build the skills, mindset, and resilience required for long-term success. Paul’s coaching is driven by a commitment to technical precision, athlete wellbeing, and innovation in program design. He is passionate about creating environments where swimmers can thrive, not only in the pool but in life beyond sport. Whether developing future stars or fostering a love of swimming in the community, Paul brings professionalism, purpose, and an unwavering drive for excellence.

 

TONY – One Swim Coach 

After a successful career in business, Tony returned to his lifelong passion for swimming and coaching 12 years ago. Over the past 55 years, Tony has been fortunate to compete successfully at State, National, and World levels, and continues to race today as a proud masters swimmer. Currently, Tony competes as a member of the Mingara Masters Pelicans and Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club, sharing the pool and ocean with a vibrant and supportive community. Recent highlights include winning the 2025 Australian Masters Championship title in Backstroke and a World Surf Life Saving title in Board Rescue in 2024. Tony says “it’s a true privilege to coach at One by Mingara and to work alongside such a talented, driven, and inspiring group of adult swimmers. Watching each swimmer grow in skill, confidence, and connection to the water is what motivates me every day.”

ROBYN  – One Swim Coach 

With a lifelong passion for sport and helping others succeed, Robyn brings a wealth of experience and energy to the One by Mingara. A dedicated triathlon coach and athlete herself, Robyn has represented Australia at State, National, and World levels across triathlon, duathlon, and cross triathlon. She has guided and inspired athletes of all ages and abilities, helping them reach their potential while building a love for the journey along the way. Robyn has played a key role in developing coaching programs and nurturing new coaches, with a strong focus on creating supportive and inclusive environments. She is deeply committed to empowering athletes through guided discovery, encouraging them to build confidence, independence, and resilience both in and out of the water. At One by Mingara, Robyn feels privileged to be part of a vibrant, welcoming community. She is passionate about helping every swimmer and triathlete feel strong, capable, and inspired to achieve their best, whether they’re new to the sport or chasing big goals. 

 

HAYLEY – Squad Coach 

Hayley is an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the One by Mingara aquatics team, serving as both a Mini Squad & Development Coach, as well as a lifeguard. With a strong commitment to water safety and skill development, Hayley plays a pivotal role in guiding swimmers through the early stages of their aquatic journey at Mini Squad & Development level.  In her coaching role, Hayley focuses on building solid foundational techniques, instilling confidence, and fostering a lifelong love of swimming. Her approach is defined by her high energy, positivity, and a keen eye for each swimmer’s individual progress. Beyond the pool, Hayley is known for her vibrant personality and zest for life. She enjoys outdoor adventures, music, and spending quality time with her family. Her multifaceted involvement at One by Mingara perfectly reflects the centre’s commitment to excellence, safety, and community spirit. 

TILLY  – Squad Coach & Learn to Swim Teacher 

Tilly brings a bright, energetic presence to the One by Mingara aquatics team. A former competitive swimmer and surf lifesaver, she combines technical skill with a deep passion for encouraging others to grow in and around the water. Currently studying Primary Education, Tilly has a natural gift for working with children, blending patience, positivity, and playfulness to create a fun and supportive learning environment. Whether she’s helping a young swimmer master a new stroke or motivating a squad to push through a tough set, her uplifting energy makes every session feel rewarding. A big believer in fitness, personal growth, and enjoying a good laugh along the way, Tilly is always ready to cheer others on and build confidence in and out of the pool. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her love for community and connection shines through in everything she does.

 

MITCHELL “MITCH” – Centre Lead and Swim Coach

With over nine years of coaching experience, Mitch brings a calm, confident presence to the One by Mingara pool deck. As both Pool Operations Manager and a passionate swim coach, he plays a key role in ensuring the centre runs smoothly, while also supporting swimmers whenever and wherever he’s needed. Mitch is dedicated to helping swimmers of all ages and abilities improve, achieve their personal bests, and most importantly, develop a lifelong love for the water. Whether covering a Learn to Swim class or stepping in to lead a squad session, Mitch creates a positive and motivating environment where swimmers feel supported and challenged. He believes the water, pool or ocean, should be a place of growth, achievement, and fun for everyone. His approachable style, attention to detail, and deep care for each swimmer’s journey make him a valued member of the coaching team and a strong role model within the One by Mingara community. 

 

JENNY – Squad Coach & Learn to Swim Teacher 

Jenny brings her boundless energy and passion for active living to One by Mingara, in roles spanning Learn to Swim, squad coaching, fitness training, and run coaching. Whether she’s guiding swimmers in the pool, runners on the track, or sharing stories over coffee, Jenny’s mission is simple: to inspire others through movement. While Jenny’s credentials span multiple areas including pool, gym and education, she also has a history of age-group success at triathlon events. Her multicultural experience and athletic achievements bring authenticity and credibility to her role as a multi‑disciplinary coach. Jenny thrives on encouraging athletes of all ages and abilities to push themselves, whether by refining swimming technique, improving running form, or achieving new levels of fitness. Her coaching sessions are known for being energetic, inclusive, and deeply motivating. At One by Mingara, Jenny is dedicated to delivering sessions that are as fun as they are challenging. 

 

GRANT – One Swim Coach

Coach Grant brings energy, experience, and a genuine passion for helping people achieve their goals to the One by Mingara aquatics and fitness team. Since starting his coaching journey in 2016, Grant has combined his love for swimming, sport, and fitness with professional qualifications, earning his Certificate III in Fitness along with multiple coaching accreditations. His experience spans a variety of sporting environments, from gyms and swim squads to grassroots AFL and NBA Basketball Schools programs. This diverse background has equipped him with the skills to motivate, adapt, and find the right pathway for every individual. Grant believes there’s more than one way to reach a goal and thrives on working with people to discover the approach that suits them best. Whether you’re in the water, on the court, or training in the gym, his sessions are designed to be supportive, challenging, and fun.
