Celebrate Christmas Eve with a fun and festive swimming challenge! The 100×100 Christmas Challenge is all about community, participation, and supporting a great cause.
Choose your distance – 1,000m, 2,500m, 5,000m, 7,500m, or 10,000m – and swim at your own pace.

What is the 100×100 Christmas Challenge?
A festive endurance swim where participants complete multiple 100m repeats at a steady pace. Swimmers choose a distance that suits them and take part in a fun, supported session focused on participation and community.
When and where is the event?
- Date: Wednesday 24th December
- Time: 5:00am – 8:00am
- Location: One by Mingara – Lap Pool
Development, Bronze and Silver squad swimmers should arrive at their normal session time (6:45am / 7:00am). All other swimmers: may start from 5:00am
Who can participate?
- Squad swimmers from Development and above
- One Swim members and Fitness Passport holders are also welcome
- Recommended for swimmers who are comfortable swimming continuously for 1 hour or longer
Do I need to book?
Yes. Pre-booking is required to help with organisation and lane management.
How does the swim work?
- Swimmers are placed into pace-based lanes aiming for a steady, consistent speed
- Available lane paces (turnaround times may be adjusted depending on numbers):
- 1:30 / 1:40 / 1:50 / 2:00 per 100m
- Development, Bronze and Silver swimmers will rotate through coach-led checkpoints with challenges and targets that are developmentally appropriate
- Freestyle or backstroke is recommended to maintain lane flow
- Fins and paddles are allowed
What distances can I complete?
Swimmers choose their distance on the day:
- 5,000m – approx. 2:30 per 100m
- 7,500m – approx. 2:20 per 100m
- 10,000m – must hold 1:45 per 100m or faster
Is there a cost to participate?
- Squad swimmers: attend as part of normal training (no pool entry fee)
- One Swim and Fitness Passport: normal pool entry applies
Is this a fundraising event?
Yes. Participants are encouraged to donate to Cancer Council via the QR code on the pool deck. Our goal is to raise $1,000+.
Is this a race?
No. The focus is on participation, consistency, and community, not competition.
